Mix Armagnac in a cocktail? Sacre bleu!
France’s oldest and most artisanal brandy, Armagnac is traditionally drunk straight, from snifters, as a digestif. The very idea of stirring such carefully crafted spirits into, say, a brandy old fashioned sweet is enough to make one shudder.
Yet promoters, evidently trying to expand the brandy’s audience, hope to convince you that “Armagnac is the next vodka.”
Does it work? Try it and see from 8 to 9:30 p.m. Thursday, June 4, at an Armagnac cocktail soirée at River East Art Center, 435 E. Illinois St., Chicago.
Admission and cocktails are free. Reservations are required.

Armagnac in a brandy old fashioned sweet? Sacrilege! Every Wisconsinite knows that the only brandy to use is Korbel!
